Please tell me again, where did we begin
Often we lose sight of where we begin
Doublin’ back around to places we’ve been
Tell me again, when was it we did start
to wander off course from where we first start
chasing distraction, vagaries of heart
Tell me, promise me the night ends in dawn,
despair’s ravening grip loosens when dawn
breaks and hope brings comfort to the forlorn
Tell of the simple times, of our first steps
before the trials and fears loomed o’er our steps;
‘fore my spirit melts and my heart accepts
Lies devised to weather my foundation,
forgetting assurance; my foundation
stands not in myself, but Christ’s salvation.
Proclaim His great glory makes all things new,
The hope of redemption, faithful and true!
