Throughout all history, a recurrent lie

echoes through the chambers of our deceived hearts

luring us toward murky waters and dry

forsaken lands; it’s here the darkness imparts

a greatly misplaced and foolish confidence:

covetous pride and idolatry’s confluence,

treasonous whispers in man’s heart have conceived

hatred toward God through whom all life was breathed
